A Kickstart reader - John S - asked a question on the Kickstart forum yesterday about which was the better program, Keyword Elite or Niche Inspector.
In case you don’t know, Keyword Elite is the most advanced keyword research tool currently available. It can create huge lists of keywords and analyze them in a variety of different and useful ways.
Niche Inspector is a new program that has been getting some good reviews. It has a very interesting sales page with a well produced demo video. But I couldn’t make any real comment about it because I don’t own it.
Or at least, I didn’t!
I was intrigued enough by the sales page and impressed enough by the many comments about the program that I’d seen that I decided to splash out and buy it for myself - so I can give you a hands-on review. And answer John S’s question with some authority!
The basic premise of Niche Inspector is that it is a tool that allows you to quickly and easily find profitable niches that you may otherwise never stumble across. It is not primarily intended to be a keyword research tool - it is a niche research tool.
Keyword Elite, on the other hand, is primarily a keyword tool.
There is some overlap between the two programs, but what is the difference?
There are many people around who say that they use both, and I can see why. Niche Inspector will help you identify the niche you want to investigate and then Keyword Elite will help you delve ever more deeply into the keywords you’ll need to promote that niche.
But that really is a strategy (and an outlay) that is best left to the advanced and experienced marketers who think nothing of building websites with hundreds or thousands of keyword targeted pages.
For most of us, Niche Inspector is quite sufficient all on its own.
So what does it do?
Niche Inspector will create a list of keywords for you, based on your initial input. So if you input, for example, ‘dog training’ and tell it that you want to dig down to find 1000 (or any number you select) of related phrases, it will go off and get them for you. Then it finds the number of searches, the results in the big three search engines, the number of AdSense ads and the likely bid value of those ads.
So far, pretty much the same information that Keyword Elite gathers in projects one and two. Quite honestly, Niche Inspector seems to gather its data faster and more efficiently than Keyword Elite, but that may be subjective.
You can also give Niche Inspector your own list of keywords for it to analyze - a very powerful option.
However, it is only AFTER it has done its keyword research that Niche Inspector really comes into its own. The second phase is the analysis of the data and you are provided with a comprehensive set of tools and filters that make drilling down and finding highly profitable keywords and phrases extremely fast and easy.
The Niche Inspector sales page, and the special report that you can get there (even if you don’t have any interest in buying Niche Inspector, get this free report because it is incredibly good) appears to stress that the program is used mainly for AdSense site builders. As many people will say, Adsense as a site monetization model is declining, so does that mean that Niche Inspector is no longer of value?
No. AdSense is just one way (and not even the best way) that you can use the information that Niche Inspector provides. It is excellent for people who build affiliate websites, perfect if you want to create your own info products, great for article marketers and bloggers.
Best of all, for people like me who don’t really want to face a huge steep learning curve with every new program we buy, Niche Inspector is designed to be very easy and instinctive to use. There is a user manual, but I have not needed to refer to it once. This is one well-designed program!
I am very grateful to John S for asking his question on the forum because it has caused me to find a gem of a program that I know I’ll be using a lot. And if you try it out, I’m sure you will too.

My cat, Simba, had to go to the vet this morning to get his annual injections. He wasn’t very impressed. But he will be even less impressed in the weeks and months to come because the vet has said he needs to go on a diet!
As a large cat, Simba does tend to live to eat, so finding his bowl empty during the day is going to come as a nasty shock!
Oh well, like owner like cat, I guess! I’m off the gym in a minute to run off a few calories, but I don’t think there is a treadmill available for fat, lazy cats! Maybe I should invent a giant hamster wheel for him!

I’m one of those odd people who reads dedications in books. You should try it - you come across some gems.
One of my favorites is in a book of success tips called ‘The Obvious’ by James Dale.
His dedication reads:
“To my wife, Ellen. I was going to make a list of all the things you mean to me, but the publisher said I have to leave room for the book.”
Isn’t that lovely.

An Inspirational Thought

It was the London Marathon on Sunday and the hottest one on record with temperatures reaching 75 degrees fahrenheit.
What do you do when you’ve set your heart on running the marathon to ‘celebrate’ your 40th birthday, started your training and then find that you haven’t got a place?
Do you give up? I know I would.
Not Gordon Bryan. He doesn’t give up that easily. He’d decided to run a marathon and by goodness he was determined to run one.
He measured himself a 3-mile course around his local streets, parked his car and on Sunday morning, set out to run around that course a bit over 8 times.
The man is mad. Crazy as piece of cracked porcelain.
But you know what? Gordon achieved his goal. He ran a marathon. And I admire him so much for doing it.
That was one impressive feat - but I bet his feet aren’t quite so impressive today!
Yes, it is the same Gordon Bryan who wrote the excellent $7 ebook ‘Tireless Traffic Technique’ - http://www.urlnex.us/gordonbryan/ - that is on my highly recommended list, and the same chap who publishes ‘The Great Gordino’ newsletter that I thoroughly enjoy reading.
You can read all about his unofficial - but in my book even more impressive - marathon on his blog at http://thegreatgordino.blogspot.com/

Today’s Power Thought

Goal setting is without doubt one of the most powerful tools in your success arsenal. But it can also be the most damaging weapon against you.
When your goals are attuned to your personality and are formulated correctly, they can help you achieve wonders. Unfortunately, more often than not, we just set our goals down without really considering what they really mean.
If you set yourself a goal that is unrealistic for you to achieve you set in action a chain of events that is the opposite of what you intend.
1. The goal becomes a drag on your spirit.
2. You begin to feel that you are personally responsible.
3. You feel guilty.
4. You become nervous about setting other goals.
5. You embrace and expect failure.
Now those are NOT good things!
And all because you didn’t take a few minutes to ask yourself a few simple questions before you set up your goal (and in the process started your sub-conscious mind on its track).
Every goal you set yourself should pass the realism test:
* Is this in tune with who I am? (If not, then the goal isn’t right for you - adapt the goal until it matches your core values.)
* Do I have the skills required to achieve it? (If not, then it is a goal too far. You should first make a new goal to learn the necessary skills.)
* Will I be happy when I’ve achieved it? (If not, then ask yourself why. It could be a case of ‘be careful what you wish for’!)
And finally, ask yourself one more vital question:
‘When I have achieved this goal, will I have to apologize to anyone?’
If you are forced to answer yes, then it is time to reframe your goal until you can be sure that you won’t be afraid of getting caught!
