Monday June 11th, 2007: Issue #810

I’m sick of my computer.

It crashes at least once a day now and has started to run really, really slowly for hours at a time in between.

I’m beginning to think that the problem may be connected to the AVG 7.5 Internet Security program that I installed a few months ago.

At first AVG seemed to be less of a resource hog than Norton or MacAfee and all was well. But the daily crashed started soon after.

This morning, while my PC was in one of its ‘let’s take five minutes to open a web page’ mode, I used Ctrl-Alt-Del to open up the Window’s Task Manager. What I found was that a process called avgrssvc.exe was running and using over 80% of my system resources. No wonder it was running slow!

That process is apparently part of the AVG suite, but AVG itself reported that it had nothing running.

Only a system restart got me working again.

So, if Norton, MacAfee and now AVG are horrible, what is good?

A very special Kickstart offer.

It has been a long-standing joke amongst my friends that two-and-a-half years ago I announced that I was writing a book on time management and it never saw the light of day.

That’s not quite true, because the book has been available to people who donated to my charity appeal last year, but it has never actually been sold as a stand-alone product from its own sales page.

I don’t mind being the source of amusement for my pals - after all, if it brightens up their lives I see it as a public service! :)

Seriously though, the time has come to give ‘14 Days to Total Time Control’ a real launch!

I’m putting it on ClickBank in a few days time. The price will be $37 and affiliates will be welcome.

Meanwhile, I’ve decided to make a very special pre-launch offer to you.

But first, pop over to http://www.totaltimecontrol.com and take a look at the sale page. Any feedback will be gratefully received!

You can’t buy it there - none of the links are active yet.

If you would like a copy of ‘14 Days to Total Time Control’ (and the bonus book mentioned on the sale page) just send $19 by PayPal to [offer now closed].

I’ll process all the orders manually, so don’t worry if you don’t hear back instantly - I’ll try to get to everyone within an hour or two. And of course, the normal 60-Day Guarantee still applies to you.

That’s a huge discount, but it is only available until the book goes on sale at ClickBank later this week.

Time is of the essence!

We had a family outing to see Ocean’s 13 on Saturday night.

I was expecting to hate it as much as I hated Ocean’s 12, but as it turned out, we all thought it was a thoroughly good movie.

Credulity is stretched somewhat. At one point they buy the machine that dug the Channel Tunnel - odd, since it is currently rusting away on a hilltop near Folkestone on the south coast of England!

Mind you, that wasn’t as far-fetched as the bomb they set off in Las Vegas in the first film!

All in all, a good ensemble cast, a plot that actually made some sense (in a nonsensical Hollywood way), the visual richness of the Las Vegas Strip and a Director who appeared to understand the storyline made Ocean’s 13 well worth watching.

The only criticism I had was the title. As it takes place before the Ocean’s 11 (it is a prequel) it would have made more sense to call it Ocean’s 10.

A few weeks ago I mentioned that Peter Woodhead is organizing a top-flight copywriter’s workshop with Ted Nicholas and Trevor Crook as the expert tutors. There are only a few seats available for this high-ticket 3-and-a-half day event. Those who attend will come away with a skill worth a fortune.

I mentioned to Peter that although the overall cost is well worth it - a single day with Ted Nicholas could easily cost you double the cost of this workshop, and attendees will get more than three days with him - the initial outlay is steep for many people.

He has taken that on board and I just got off the phone from him telling me that he has introduced a special staged payment plan.

If you were interested when I mentioned it last, but were put off by the price, take another look - you’ll be pleasantly surprised: http://www.urlnex.us/CopywritingWorkshop/

And here is the kicker - if you book your place through my link I’ll arrange to rebate you £250 (that’s Pounds, not Dollars!) from my commission. I don’t know quite how it will work yet (I’ll need to talk again to Peter) but it will be sorted out for you.

Don’t forget - ‘14 Days to Total Time Control’ can be yours for just $19 (discounted from $37) only if you act within the next couple of days.

It is very easy to try to steer a middle course through life, never coming down firmly on one side or the other for fear of causing offense.

But there is a truism which says, ‘People who stay in the middle of the road tend to get run over.’

This is a fact. The more you try to offend nobody, the more you risk offending everybody!

Sometimes you just have to take a stand, step off he white line in the middle of your personal road and stride purposefully to the sidewalk.

There may be people going in the opposite direction on the other side, but most of the folks you meet on your side will be traveling the same way as you.

St. Augustine, 354-430 said,

“People travel to wonder at the height of the mountains, at the huge waves of the seas, at the long course of the rivers, at the vast compass of the ocean, at the circular motion of the stars, and yet they pass by themselves without wondering.”

    Today’s Power Thought
_______________________________________________________

Napoleon Hill wrote, “You will never find peace of mind by allowing other people to live your life for you.”

You are unique and you have an unquestionable ability that nobody else in the world has - the right to make up your own mind.

You can listen to advice from all around, and process information from just about everywhere, but in the end, what you do with that information and advice is totally, 100% up to you.

You can choose.

Imagine that! YOU can choose.

Sometimes your choices are easy and sometimes they are extraordinarily difficult.

Sometimes you have so many other factors to consider that it is easy to imagine that you are not in control of your own life.

But in the end, your life really can have only one driver - you.

Many people fail in life, but not because they lack skills or time or money. They fail because they lack the belief that they could possibly succeed.

Their minds make them fail because they have allowed it to listen to the voices all around that constantly whisper negativity.

Other people will always try to tell you what you can’t do. They will always try to stop you in your tracks.

All those voices saying you can’t do this or that you are not the right person to do that are like anchors hooked onto your mind. You can try to strain against them, but they will always hold you back.

And if you listen, they will be right. You can’t forge forwards in life when you have that mental anchor weighing you down.

Close your ears to the outside voices. Make your own choices, your own decisions and start living your own life.

When that weight is off your mind, you will really start to fly.
