Friday June 15th, 2007: Issue #812
Yesterday turned out to be a really good day. First I had a great lunch with an old friend, then I went to Waterloo Station to meet Delia and bumped into a an even older friend who I lost touch with over four years ago. That was a lovely reunion and we’ve arranged to meet and catch up next week. Then after that D and I went to see our favorite TV show - QI, with Stephen Fry - being made (again).
And when I got home I was happy to find lots of nice orders waiting for me in my inbox, and my PayPal account healthier that when I’d left home.
Altogether a brilliant day! I wish they could all be like that.

It is nice to see so many familiar names and faces in the new Internet marketers’ forum that Robert Puddy has launched. Lots of Kickstarters are making themselves felt in there already, which can only be a good thing!
I really like the concept behind this forum - charge a nominal fee to join, which keeps out the bigger idiots and the spammers, moderate hard so that empty and silly and overly negative posts are weeded out quickly, and encourage a warm atmosphere of sharing and giving.
That last thing sounds horribly fluffy and luvvy, but in this case it really seems to work. Everyone in the forum seems to be keen to make the place a big success - after all, it is in all our interests to do so. And the result is that there are already over 600 registered users and well over 1000 posts!
In three days - that can’t be bad!
If you’ve joined already, make sure you use the place. Ask questions, contribute to threads and generally be a player. You’ll get a lot of benefit from it if you do.
If you haven’t joined yet, what’s stopping you - it’s only $10!

A big thanks to everyone who bought my Time Management ebook special offer. The special deal is finished now and as soon as I’ve finished writing all the necessary web pages it will go on sale through ClickBank.
I’d really like Kickstarters to make some money from this so I’ll be setting a generous affiliate commission. I’ll let you know when it is live so you can get a link and start recommending it to people.
After all, everyone needs some help with Time Management!
Meanwhile, if you are one of the lovely people who have already bought ‘14 Days to Total Time Control’, I’d really like to get a testimonial from you to put on the sales page!

The next London Lunch is Friday 6th July. The location is Covent Garden, Central London.
If you are on the London Lunch list already, you’ll have had an announcement email, but if you are not and think that the opportunity to meet, greet and eat with 20 or 30 other Internet marketers over a relaxed 6 or 7 hour afternoon is appealing, then please head on over to www.london-lunch.com and put your name down for the announcement list.
I really need to know whether to commit the restaurant to 20 or 30 seats (or more) very soon - it makes a difference to where they put us. So if you have told me that you want to come, please send in your deposit to guaranteed your place. And if you haven’t responded yet - please do so as soon as possible.
I will send a reminder to the London Lunch list later as well.

An Inspirational Thought

When events in your life get you down and set your mind onto the negative path for a while, you need to practice what I like to call ‘reverse osmosis of the soul.’
When water is polluted, it can be purified by a process called reverse osmosis in which only the molecules of pure water can be drawn through a membrane filled with tiny water-molecule sized holes.
The filter effectively blocks all the negative pollutants from getting through.
How can we apply that idea in our own minds? Surely we can’t take our brain and pass it through a sieve!
Well we can do something similar. We can monitor our thoughts and put all the negative ones to one side. Every time we find ourselves entertaining a negative idea, or a destructive thought, we must box it up and save it for later AND AT THE SAME TIME make a conscious effort to replace it with a more positive one.
It is tough to do, and involves a degree of acting on your part, but the habit is soon ingrained.
Let me give you an example.
Suppose I woke up this morning on the wrong side of the bed and had a bitter row with my wife, shouted at the children and kicked the cat (I didn’t, but let’s pretend!)
After all that, it would be natural for me to sit down at my computer to write Kickstart with all kinds of angry, hurt and bitter pollutants running around inside my head. And a horrible feeling of doom and gloom in my stomach.
My way of dealing with that awful inrush of negativity would be to tell myself that I will deal with it all in an hour’s time, but meanwhile, I will think of all the positive things that I can so that no hint of my inner feelings will come through in my writing.
I would make a deliberate attempt to filter my thoughts for one hour and let only the positive ones through: Reverse Osmosis of the Soul.
The odd thing is that after an hour of that kind of deliberate (even artificial) positivity, the festering pool of negativity that has been put on hold loses a great deal of its sting.
Of course there will be some issues that have to be dealt with and some truths that have to be accepted. But with the benefit of that hour’s worth of positive thinking, your ability to deal with it all becomes less emotional, calmer and much easier.

Today’s Power Thought

Enthusiasm is one of the most contagious things around.
When you meet someone who is literally bubbling with enthusiasm, it take a very hard heart indeed not to be infected with a sense of joy.
You know the kind of people I mean - the ones who seem to have more spirit in them that their body can contain, so it just keeps spilling out onto everyone around them.
They can be challenging and tiring because they make you wonder why your life isn’t as exciting and inspired as theirs clearly is.
But the real honest truth is that we can all be that way.
The first step towards that kind of sparkle is to find your passions (yes you can have more than one).
When you have something in your life that you are really passionate about, the excitement you feel about it creates a feedback loop inside your brain. The excitement goes round and round, building upon itself, reinforcing itself, until it just has to burst out.
When it does burst out, everyone around you benefits. The world gets filled with a little more of that immensely powerful force.
And you know what? When your passions and excitements and enthusiasms burst forth like that, the amount left behind inside you grows even more!
I feel a bit like that this morning as I write this for you. I really feel passionately about what I write and I am really excited by the prospect that you might find some of my thoughts and ideas useful and powerful in your life.
So I hope that my enthusiasm is spilling out into your life today.
Have a great, successful and prosperous weekend.
