Monday November 26th, 2007: Issue #863

I’m a creature of habit and routine, so when Delia changed my routine this morning, the rest of the day has gone haywire!

“Let’s go to the gym nice and early,” she said.

“Okay,” I said, “About 11.30 suit you?”

“No, not your idea of early. MY idea of early.”

Ah. So there we were, sweating on the running machines at what seemed like the crack of dawn, but was really about 9 am.

Having to get dressed and ready at such an unearthly hour meant that I had to mentally put off writing Kickstart until we got home. I figured that would be about 11. But life doesn’t work out the way you plan, most of the time. Things crop up. Phone calls happen. Interesting, shiny things take your attention … and before you know it, it’s 4.45 in the afternoon and you’ve done nothing of any consequence at all.

Well, I did walk and jog almost three miles, so some good must have come out of it. (Tell that to my aching legs!)

Oh well, apologies for today’s Kickstart tardiness, but you can blame the wife.

The experimental new website that I built two weeks ago (I mentioned it here in Kickstart #857) is starting to bear fruit.

With absolutely no promotion, other than one link from the Kickstart Archive, the site started to get search engine spider attention last Monday when the Alexa bot popped by for a visit. That was closely followed by a couple of unknown bots and then the Ask bot landed. Two day’s later, Yahoo sent their spider round for a taste, and it has now been back three times. Google only found the site on Saturday, but has now been back six times.

Interestingly, there was no traffic to speak of (under ten visit page views per day) until Sunday, when Google started sending a few searchers over.

The result of that was that Sunday saw the site’s first genuine AdSense income: $2.03!

It is hardly a fortune, but it does show that the site’s construction works and that once visitors get there they are prepared to click a link or two.

It’ll be interesting to follow the progress - especially now that I’ve added some more pages, and put some alternative monetization methods on some of the pages.

It’s early days, but I’ll keep monitoring progress.

Even better than I thought.

Yes, ‘Confessions of a Lazy Super Affiliate’ by Chris Rempel (the book I recommended in Kickstart on Friday) is even better than I first thought.

Now that I’ve had a chance to read the book in more depth, rather than just skimming it, I’ve found much more value inside its pages than I’d seen the first time round. And I thought it was great then!

Chris really has put heart and soul into writing this book and I heartily recommend anyone with even half an interest in Internet marketing to read it.

I’d go as far as to say that it is the best Internet marketing book I’ve read all year.

Certainly the best value for money! It is way too cheap.

It isn’t just a book of good ideas though - ‘Confessions of a Lazy Super Affiliate’ is a book of proven business models that are explained in great detail. And in keeping with the title, none of them are difficult to put into practice. YOU may need to forget the lazy part - no business, even the Lazy Man’s Way to Riches that the famous Joe Karbo wrote forty years ago, can really be successful with a truly lazy person at the helm.

Instead of lazy, think smart - that’s what Chris Rempel teaches so well: smart affiliate marketing.

I must say I approve.

And in case you missed my review in last Friday’s Kickstart (see the archive), there is a treat in store on the sales page itself: Chris gives away a complete business plan. You don’t even have to buy anything. Incidentally, the sales page is refreshingly direct. This isn’t some hyped up book that is all promise and no delivery. This one really delivers the goods.

        An Inspirational Thought

The most positive man I ever worked with had a saying
that I’ve never forgotten:

‘If you have one foot in the past and one foot in the
future, you’d better watch out because there is only
one place the present can kick you.’

Seems like good sense to me.

I once read an unattributed quote that went, “When you want what you’ve never had, you must do what you’ve never done.”

Isn’t that so true?

Read it again:

“When you want what you’ve never had, you must do what you’ve never done.”

Dreams, goals, targets, aspirations … these are all things that we want to achieve that are in some way beyond the place where we are right at this minute. And the ONLY way that we can ever hope to attain them is to move beyond this comfortable place.

To achieve, we must stretch, and the more we stretch, the more we can achieve.

In looking for the source of that fantastic quote I was unsuccessful, but in another way I was very successful because I found another quote that I loved:

“When you want to believe in something, you also have to believe in everything that’s necessary for believing in it.” Ugo Betti

Now that’s powerful, isn’t it!

And put those two ideas together and you get pure TNT.

So this isn’t so much an action point today as food for thought.

Bon Appetit. Dine well.
