Greetings !

Life, and finalizing my annual accounts, took over yesterday and
Kickstart had to be moved back a day to today. Sorry about that.

In case you missed Tuesday’s edition, you can find it here.

A Kickstart reader alerted me to this very inspirational video
this morning (thanks Denise).

It shows that whatever the odds are that stack up against you,
working hard and working positively pays off.

Briefly the back story is that a Chinese woman who loved to dance
lost her arm in an accident and suffered the depression that such
an event would bring. As a form of therapy she went back to
dancing, but the missing limb made her balance wrong and she
effectively had to learn how to dance all over again.

Then she met a man who had lost a leg – and was suffering the
inevitable depression as well. She suggested dance therapy, but
he had never danced before and couldn’t see how it was even
possible with one leg.

She must have been a very persuasive lady because despite the
odds against them, they gave it a try.

(They took action even though the outcome was anything but
certain – sound familiar?)

A choreographer helped them and the result is the video you can
watch – where the pair very deservedly gain one of the top scores
in a major Chinese dance competition.

If you think that things are tough today, watch the video and
then get on with taking action.

Another wry smile crossed my lips this morning when a very well
known Internet marketers tweeted to the effect that 95% of what
you see online is noise and that it is an affiliate’s job to cut
through that noise.

The smile, and accompanying sigh was due to the fact that this
particular person is, in my opinion, responsible for a huge chuck
of the very noise he seems to be warning us about!

A case of ‘don’t do as I do, do as I say’?

The next London Lunch (on Friday 17th July) is at risk…

I am seriously considering that the next London Lunch may have to
be cancelled.

Perhaps July is a bad month – I know a lot of the regulars are
away on vacation then – or maybe there are other good reasons,
but the sad fact is that with just 3 weeks to go, there are only
a fraction of the number of people booked that we need to make it
a viable day.

There has been a trend over the last few lunches for people to
leave it right to the last minute to book, but that makes
organizing the event a nightmare. The hotel expect me to give
them a reasonable estimate of final number about a week in
advance, but lately that has been very difficult to do.

I emailed the entire announcement list a couple of days ago,
asking people to get their bookings in, but so far, only two
people have responded.

In order to get the deal we have with the hotel/restaurant, we
have to guarantee a certain minimum number of attendees. About 4
tables full.

Right now, we don’t have enough people booked to fill one table.

I will mail again today – and as you can see, am mentioning it
here – and will see what happens over the weekend.

But here is the reality: if we don’t have at least three times
the number of current bookings by the end of Monday, I will have
to seriously consider cancelling the event.

Naturally, if that happens, all fees paid so far will be
refunded.

In four years of running London Lunches I haven’t had to cancel
one yet. I hope it doesn’t come to that this time.

When you attend as many seminars and event as I do you get to
witness some AMAzing transformations.

A few years ago I met a guy at one of Robert Puddy’s seminars,
Chris Freville was his name. Chris was a complete newbie and just
as wide-eyed and enthusiastic as the rest of us.

We chatted for a while. I liked him.

Like everyone else he was full of ideas and plans, but I had no
reason then to suspect that he would be one of the few to take
action on those plans and make it big.

Other seminars came along and often I’d see Chris networking in
the social times, but other than saying hello, our paths didn’t
cross much. However, I was starting to be aware that people were
seeking him out, and asking him questions.

It turns out that Chris had been steadily building up his
Internet marketing business, working on building niche-based
websites. And had become a huge success.

I met him again at a seminar recently and he came along to the
last London Lunch. Chris is still a quiet, unassuming man, but he
clearly has what it takes in the Internet marketing business!

He has perfected a system that allows him to dominate any niche
he likes – and is now about to teach you exactly how he does it.

Chris has kindly given me a review copy of Dominating Niches -
which is due to launch next Tuesday, 30th June – and from what
I’ve seen so far, it is very impressive. There is an ebook that
currently runs to 117 pages (this is still a draft copy, so the
actual length may change), a supplementary ebook, software, and
at least seven videos.

All this teaches exactly what Chris does to make a seriously good
online income, and better still, explains WHY he does the things
he does.

Although you can’t buy Dominating Niches until next week, you can
sign up to be on the announcement list – and get an excellent
report as a free gift. The report explains who Chris is, and
gives full details of one niche that he personally made over
$30,000 from. It is a good read.

Why don’t Apple like instruction manuals?

I adore my new iPhone, but I know there are hundreds of features
and functions buried inside it that I have no idea how to access.

They seem to think that their software is so intuitive that
anyone can use it right out of the box – and to some extent that
is true, but once you get a little under the surface, it is so
easy to get lost.

For example, a lot has been said about how the new software
update added voice activation for making phone calls. I’m sure it
did, but how do I use it? I’ve no idea!

Maybe they build such rabid enthusiasts by making us work for it!

Today’s Power Thought
_____________________________________________________

Success, as we are so often reminded, is 10% inspiration and 90%
perspiration. ‘Take massive and continual action’ is the mantra
of our age.

But I think that there is a step missing in the success formula
that is so often trotted out.

What comes before that massive action?

Action makes things happen and drives us towards our goals, but
how do we start taking action? What is the fuel that sparks our
action-engine into life?

Motivation.

If we are not motivated in the first place, we simply can’t be
bothered.

Then that other buzz-word of today, procrastination, comes into
play. Tomorrow will do. I’ll do it later. I can’t be bothered.

Motivation is like a river. It flows through us, occasionally
irrigating a few seeds, once in while dropping some silt, but
mostly sweeping on by. It runs right through our fingers.

Even though we know that we need to bottle it, by the time we’ve
thought that, it has gone.

But you know what? Rivers can be dammed.

Enough of the metaphor. How can we build up the reserve of
motivation in our life to such a high level that taking action
becomes the easy part?

We have to have an itch to scratch.

Very few people will be motivated to take massive action to
achieve something that they feel luke warm about.

We all need a burning desire to achieve something great.

But each of us is motivated by a different set of desires: love,
money, companionship, self esteem, material possessions, safety,
novelty (Abraham Maslow’s hierarchy of human needs explains it
well).

Personally I’m motivated by the desire to support my family and
the fascination of new things.

Knowing that helps me to tailor my goals so that they are in tune
with what I know lights my fuse.

Your motivations are going to be different to mine, but
understanding them will have exactly the same result – you will
be able to tune your life around the reality of who you are.

So take some time today to think who you are and how you can
build that into your goal planning.

Once you manage to achieve that, your river of motivation will be
harnessed, taking action will be the natural result and ‘I’ll do
it tomorrow’ will be a thing of the past.

Fascinating Facts
______________________________________________________

Under the category of extraordinary statistics come the fact that
somebody has bothered to calculate how many pounds of toilet
paper each nation of Europe uses per year, on an averaged
personal basis.

Now I’m sure that you really want to know who uses the most and
who uses the least …

The Swedes are the champions of toilet paper usage, wiping the,
er, floor with everyone else. They get through an average of 18.5
pounds of the stuff per person per year.

The French bring up the rear (so to speak) with a paltry 8.5
pounds per person.

The British are sixth. We manage to scrape into 6th place at 10
pounds for each of us.

My family, however, seem to have more in common with the Swedes,
getting through, as they do, several volumes of War and Peace
ever day!

What’s wrong with squares of newspaper on a hook? That’s what I’d
like to know!

Oh, and in case you are wondering, Americans use, on average,
twice as much toilet paper as the average European – largely, it
seems, because of the habit that nation has to ‘bunch’ rather
than ‘fold’.

Maybe we should all go green and revert to the ancient Roman
custom of using a communal sponge on a stick.
